Karen L. Oberst

I love languages. In addition to majoring in Greek, I have studied Latin, Hebrew, French, and German, with a smattering of Old English, Welsh, Russian, and Hindi. Since I hadn't done much with Greek for a while, I decided to use the Sermon on the Mount as a Bible study. For a year I went through the text, word by word, savoring the insights God was giving me. Finally, I knew I needed to share what I learned, so But I Tell You was born.

I am a librarian by profession, and have worked at George Fox University and Seattle Pacific University. As an avocation, I collect quotes, and my alter ego—the Quote Lady—has provided inspirational quotations on the Web since 1998. I am a member of Klamath Falls Friends Church, which is a truly amazing meeting.

Thanks to pastor Faith Marsalli for both encouragement and nudges. And thanks, too, to Barclay Press for making But I Tell You a reality.
