Patrick Oden

If I had been an ancient Celt, most likely I would have been a Druid. Had I lived in America a thousand years ago, I almost definitely would have been a shaman. Had I treasured the Christian faith prior to the last three hundred years, it is a certainty I would be wearing a monk's robe.

However, as someone who lives in the particularly radical section of Reformation faith during the 21st century, I'm just a bit at a loss for a clear description of who I am. There's no mystical wing of Protestant faith (something I realized while an undergraduate getting a degree in history and in theology, then later as a graduate student getting my Master of Divinity degree). After working in a church for a while, I realized there was something deeper calling me, calling me toward advanced lessons of spirituality and the work of God. This calling pushed me out of the normal patterns and up—into the mountains of Southern California where I am a writer and a Web designer. You can read my writing on the Web at Dual Ravens. If you prefer print and paper you can buy my book It's a Dance: Moving with the Holy Spirit (Barclay Press, November 2007).
